African American adults are 20% more likely to experience serious mental health problems such as Major Depressive disorder or Generalized Anxiety disorder. African American adults, ages 18-25, also experience higher rates of mental health problems and lower rates of mental health service utilization compared to other groups of people.
SHE encourages the process of finding and maintaining self-worth from within, while assisting in defining the role of women in modern society.
Our mission is to de-stigmatize mental health in the African American community through the process of self-exploration, psycho-education, and providing accessible mental health care.
Our vision is for there to be increased quality mental health resources within the African American community with an emphasizes on Black women. We envision mental health being a prioritized matter and for us to be a part of the solution.
