SaPhenixx Adams is a mental health therapist for adults in the Metro-Atlanta area. While growing up in Decatur, Georgia, it was apparent to Ms. Adams the disparities of mental health access in underserved communities.
After obtaining her Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology, Ms. Adams was eager to begin serving others in need. She began working with victims of domestic violence; all while continuing her educational journey at Brenau University, where she earned her Master’s of Science in Clinical Counseling. After completing her Masters, Ms. Adams dove head first into serving communities plagued by generational trauma. She served as a Victim Advocate for domestic violence clients and provided crisis intervention for clients experiencing homelessness. It was through this work that she truly understood the impact of working with someone that looks like you and understands the difficulties and prejudices of being Black in America.
Through various obstacles, Ms. Adams has learned firsthand the strength of the black woman. With these obstacles, she has also learned that it is okay to take off the superwoman cape and receive the necessary tools by a licensed professional in order to truly flourish.
Ms. Adams currently provides therapy for children and families, specializing in depression, anxiety and conduct disorder. Ms. Adams’ mission is to bring awareness of the importance of mental health to the Black community. Throughout this work, Mrs. Adams also strives to be an advocate for Black women on a daily basis.
